The flourishing of self-translation today has encouraged us to search for evidence of this practice in the past. The study concentrates on the fifteenth century and the first decade of the sixteenth century, focusing on the city of Florence. While situating the works in question in their socio-linguistic and literary context, it shows that many authors produced bilingual versions (Latin and vulgar) of their own writings.
