Terms and conditions

Our general conditions of sale apply to all sales by CLASSIQUES GARNIER from its internet site. Institutions have the benefit of special conditions.

1. Orders
Orders can be sent:

Orders placed by individuals are only dispatched upon receipt of payment.

2. Opening of an institutional account
Accounts are opened online on the Classiques Garnier site.

3. Prices
Prices displayed on the site are given on a net basis that includes all taxes; delivery costs are not included. Prices may be changed at any time and without notice, on the understanding that billing for items will be charged based on the price in effect at the time of the order.

New books are sold in compliance with the regulations applicable in France and in particular with the Lang Act on single prices for books; discounts may not exceed 5% of the price set by the publisher (Lang Act, law no. 81-766 of August 10, 1981).

Prices are payable in euros, in full, and in a single installment upon placement of the order.

For European Union customers who are subject to French VAT, orders will be invoiced exclusive of taxes, subject to submission of a VAT identification number at the moment when the transaction is performed on the site.

Where orders are to be sent to territories other than mainland France, customs duties or other local taxes are payable by and the responsibility of the recipient.

4. Discounts
Discounts are calculated based on the retail price exclusive of taxes. They may be adjusted at any time. There are no discounts for individual customers.

5. Delivery costs
Delivery costs will be invoiced; these costs will vary in accordance with the postage rates in effect. Delivery costs include contributions to preparation, packaging, and postage costs. They take the form of a lump sum comprising a fixed component and a variable component based on the number of items ordered.

6. Payment
Payments can be made:

Online by debit or credit card (SSL secure payment; CB cards, VISA, EUROCARD, MASTERCARD). Customers must enter their card number, its expiry date, and its verification number. Transactions are processed by SOGENACTIF, the commercial electronic payment system of Société Générale.
By debit or credit card (CB, VISA, EUROCARD, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS), by mail or by fax. Order process: print the order confirmation, manually enter the debit/credit card information, and then send the document by mail to Classiques Garnier 6, rue de la Sorbonne 75005 PARIS – France – or by fax to +33 1 45 44 92 88. The amount due for the order is charged at the moment when the items are dispatched.
By check clearable in a French bank, to the order of Classiques Garnier. The check should be sent together with the order confirmation to the following address: Classiques Garnier 6, rue de la Sorbonne 75005 PARIS – France. Orders for individuals are processed upon receipt of payment.
Bank charges for bank transfers are payable by the customer. Orders for individuals are processed upon receipt of the transfer.

NOTE: Electronic processing of payments made over the internet is provided by a trusted third party (SOGENACTIF), which handles transaction security. Only the data necessary for order preparation, delivery, and billing are sent to Classiques Garnier; customer bank details are excluded.

7. Delivery
If orders placed by individuals are paid by check, the order will be processed only upon receipt of the check, and time scales will begin from that moment. Items are sent at the customer’s own risk and cost. They will be delivered to the delivery address indicated in the order.

8. Returns
If items are defective or damaged, or in the event of shipping errors, the recipient must fully notify the carrier at the moment of delivery. Any complaints relating to delivery / shipping must be sent to us in the week following receipt. Upon receipt of returned items, Classiques Garnier will ship free of charge a replacement copy of or refund for the item at its own expense.

9. Billing
During dispatch, the purchase invoice is attached to the items ordered. The delivery address may be different from the billing address.

10. Availability of items
If an item is unavailable, the customer will be informed by email, fax, or postal mail. Depending on the time scales for reprints, customers will have the choice between maintaining their orders or canceling them.

11. Returns
Sales are binding. With the exception of defective items, no returns are accepted.

12. Acceptance of the conditions of sale
Online sales fulfilled by Classiques Garnier are governed exclusively by French law. In validating their purchase transactions, customers declare that they accept the order and all of the present conditions of sale. The present conditions are subject to change at any time and without notice by Classiques Garnier.

13. Respect for privacy
All information entered by the user will remain confidential. In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation passed by the European Parliament on April 14, 2016, and with the French law of January 6, 1978, on data processing, files, and freedoms, the user has a right to access, amend, correct, and delete data relating to him/her, and this right can be exercised at any time. 14. Competent jurisdiction
The courts of Paris have exclusive competence in the event of a dispute.
