Les Hauts-Quartiers de Paul Gadenne, une spiritualité du dénuement

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Roman mystique, mystiques romanesques aux xxe et xxie siècles
  • Author: Saint-Chéron (François de)
  • Abstract: In the posthumous novel by Paul Gadenne the sacrificial dimension of Didier's character – fed by Saint John of the Cross –, his experience of Christ suffering through the humiliated testifies to a Christianity lived in the flesh of existence. In addition to this fundamental aspect of the work, is also included a satire of the pharisaism of bad Catholics and a meditation on silence in the face of human suffering. Les Hauts-Quartiers should be read as a deeply Christian.
