« Là-bas », la mère patrie
Amour et dépit dans Le Bataillon créole de Raphaël Confiant

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: La Grande Guerre des écrivains : études
  • Author: Vignest (Romain)
  • Abstract: The enthusiastic engagement of Raphaël Confiant’s five Martiniquais is characteristic of the most humble –here, the Nègres-la-campagne– who vow to the mother country the filial love of those who have nothing else. More than the harshness of the climate and the combat, it is the ignorance and negligence of the metropolis, and then the absence of any concrete recognition, which breaks their hearts and destroys their sense of belonging.
