Amateur theater and the theatrical avant-garde The example of the “nonprofessional” TRAC troupe in Rennes (1976–1989)

The TRAC enjoyed great success in Rennes and Brittany between 1976 and 1989. The amateur troupe puts on shows based on collective improvisation work and fed by historical research. Influenced by contemporary aesthetics, it illustrates the movement of "theater to say". This case study is an opportunity to question the artistic dimension of amateur theatrical practices and their inclusion in the history of theater.
