Une adaptation cinématographique précoce de Tom Jones de Henry Fielding à Yale University

This article studies the first film adaptation of Henry Fielding’s Tom Jones (1749) by a group of amateur filmmakers at Yale University in 1927. The authors shed light on the academic background of the film, and particularly the studies in eighteenth-century English literature at Yale, before suggesting possible overlaps between Fielding’s novel, the film adaptation, and the work of William Hogarth—an intimate friend of Tom Jones’ author.
