« Bien faire son métier »
Travail et réflexion éthique chez Camus

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Camus et l’éthique
  • Author: Basset (Guy)
  • Abstract: This chapter examines the importance of conscientious and artful work in Camus’ œuvre. The writer started to work at a young age. In his first articles for Alger républicain, he also showed an early interest in the world of labour and the economic realities which underlie it. “To do one’s job well” explores the labour ethics which motivate many of Camus’ characters. The desire to do a job well hides a larger concern : how to carry out the “job” of living well.
