  • Abstract: This study aims to determine the extent to which the translation of Boethius’ Consolation of Philosophy influenced the formation of the French lexicon. To this end, we examine four translations produced between the thirteenth and the fifteenth centuries for two of the most frequent nominal suffixes, namely –tas, designating qualitative nouns, and –tio, designating action nouns.
