The dialogue of machines Technological ambivalences and literary techniques in Michel Houellebecq’s Serotonine

With Gilbert Simondon’s philosophy of technical objects, this article wishes to study the dialogical relationship that Michel Houellebecq establishes, in Sérotonine, between the respective universes of technological innovations and literature. Contrary to a common belief that makes Houellebecq a simple precentor of modernity, we will try to underline the deep ambivalence with which his novel describes the technical objects of our time, carriers of an unattainable search for happiness.
