Wajdi Mouawad makes anagnorisis powerfully alive in contemporary drama and his play Incendies (Scorched) is a family tragedy reminiscent of the Greeks shaped like a “polygon”. The imprint of this geometrical figure is the focus of this study which outlines The Course of Recognition in two stages: the path toward “recognition as identification” only gives access to the ultimate goal, returning to self-knowledge.
