A wide range of contemporary French writings reinvest the novel in a mode oscillating between reticence and attraction, based on the fundamentally intertextual character of the novelistic canon. The recognition sheds light on the resulting reading pact, between disappointment and pleasure of narrative recognition. The latter, organized by the text, becomes in a second stage the basis for an anthropological recognition which is actualized in the reception.
