This study revisits the use of spatial prepositions in Verlaine’s poetry, linked to a representation of reality long associated with a poetics of the vague. The construction of among reveals a singular semantic function; we can extend this observation to other prepositions (by, towards, through. . .) to show its pertinence in constructing space correlated with a vision of subjectivity.
