The occurrences of the island “Roddah” in the travelogue of Gérard de Nerval, in and beyond Chapter VI of the part entitled “The Harem”, in Women of Cairo, reveals a poietic path, which anticipates the profound paradigms of the forthcoming writings. On the threshold of “the field of the dead” (the pyramids), the island offers a perfect framework to the deconstruction of knowledge and allows to renew the idea of technè.
