The dedication of Les Amours jaunes, “To the author of Le Négrier,” alludes to the first novel by Édouard Corbière published in 1832, Tristan’s father. This article attempts to shed light on Édouard’s career and work, which to contemporaries appeared to be a rupture from the publications of the time. It is perhaps mainly this rupture that Édouard passed on to his son.
