Gilbert Dahan, “Allegory as the Foundation of Christian Exegesis (Medieval Exegesis)”
Christian exegesis of the Bible has its foundation in Gal 4:22-26: Paul ’ s words are the basis for an allegorical approach, whereas the parable was typical both of rabbinic and of Jesus ’ own exegesis. After a study of medieval lexicons, we examine the exegesis of Galatians from the early Middle Ages to the 15 th century, including commentaries from the 12 th and 13 th centuries. Finally, we ask the question whether the methods of academic exegesis led or not to a decline in allegory from the end of the 13 th century.

Stéphane Loiseau, « Cum venit veritas, defecit figura.

Stéphane Loiseau, “Cum venit veritas, defecit figura. Research on Allegorical Meaning in Thomas Aquinas”
Thomas Aquinas ’ Commentary on Galatians offers a brief synthesis of his exegetical theory. Allegory plays a central role, but it seems to be both the mainspring of any passage to a spiritual meaning and also one of those spiritual meanings. To clarify the hermeneutical leap that Thomas makes with allegory, we must consider the notion of figure in his Commentary on the Letter to the Hebrews: the old Law is a “figure” of the new Law.

Annie Noblesse-Rocher, “The End of Allegory? A New Typological Exegesis in 16th Century Strasbourg”
In the 16 th century, Martin Bucer set out to rethink the medieval quadriga. Allegory is the meaning most questioned because of a suspicion of arbitrariness inherited from patristic exegesis. In several of his commentaries, including those on John and Zephaniah, Bucer attempts to redefine allegory. In order to marginalise it, he elaborates a new typological meaning, based on similarity of proportion, with a prophetic aim. This meaning allows an updated reading of Scripture, both ecclesial and political.

Antoine Altieri, “Ontological Solitude or the Grace of Loving. Against Being and Time”
In confronting Being and Time, this article considers the possibility that the person is for the person an “other of the world”–an other of the world in which he or she would have a vocation to truly dwell. On the basis of Heideggerian conceptuality itself, but of course against it, we envisage the possibility of an ontological non-solitude of Dasein, that is to say, that of an authentic being that is not “discovered” in being towards death, but in love, understood as a “grace”.
