Yves Reboul has recently shed light on the recoding process at work in The Ravens. Based on other contemporary references to the poem - including the rewriting of a text by Louise Michel - it is possible to better grasp its contours and issues, as well as its target: the poetics of the return to order. Drawing on Steve Murphy’s concept of the “dialectic of defeat”, I propose an interpretation of the last sestet of The Ravens.
