Nerval et Hugo La poésie comme langage funèbre

This article deals with the parallel that can be drawn between the two major poetry books by Nerval (Les Chimères, 1854), Hugo (Les Contemplations, 1856), and Aurélia (1855), as they are both marked by the obessive presence of death and the Dead, haunted by the hieroglyphics of reality. They both constitute a form of meditation on the disappearance of the divine thereby inscribing its orphic quest within a vast questioning of poetry as the language of mourning.
