Social networks are new textual sources to obtain current and constantly evolving data on the phenomena related to linguistic change. This paper assumes that Twitter is a suitable textual corpus to detect and study lexical neology. Therefore, a set of lexicographical neologisms in Catalan detected on Twitter will be analyzed, with the aim of advancing in the exciting study of lexical innovation in our society.
