The main suffixes used in the creation of partisan neologisms in sports headlines in the Spanish press

This article catalogs, analyzes and gives examples of the main suffixes (-azo, -ada, -ato, -ísimo, -ero and -ón) used in the creation of tendentious neologisms in a corpus of sports headlines in the Spanish press (2006-2007). These neologisms are the key words of expressive and creative headlines. Through them, the journalist makes clear their point of view while drawing the reader’s attention and openly expressing their agreement or disagreement towards a specific sporting event or character.
