Borrowing and indigenous neologisms A comparison of their respective places and their reception

The position of borrowing among lexicon-expanding processes varies – it may be included, excluded or unmentioned. A binary opposition between language-internal processes and borrowing is to be preferred to the traditional division (formal processes, semantic processes, borrowing). External influence is also exerted through other means than borrowing – one needs to distinguish between xenisms, peregrinisms and statalisms. This article classifies these units and analyzes how they are accepted.
