If we consult dictionaries of literature, music, and the arts, we notice a striking absence: women. This lacuna is even more striking in older dictionaries, but it is evident in modern works as well. How to explain this silence ? Increasingly, dictionaries are providing more space to women. We even see dictionaries devoted entirely to women, such as the Dictionary of Creative Women.
