The reflection on the lexicographic definitions by French and Italian monolingual dictionaries of the nouns “sin”, “avarice”, “pride”, “luxury”, “laziness”, “anger”, “envy” and “greed” proposed here seeks to illustrate how a thematic approach to dictionaries can be an excellent tool for, on the one hand, the acquisition of lexical networks, and, on the other, the basis of a diachronic reflection on the notion of sin.
