The via negativa of Grotowski and the Search for the “Total Act” in Theater and Beyond

In a perspective of epistemology of the creative process, and drawing on one of Jerzy Grotowski's essential works, Towards a Poor Theatre, this work proposes to question and study the way in which the via negativa or “negative way” functions in the creative process of the Laboratory Theater, as a means of deconditioning and revelation, intended to enable the accomplishment of a total act, a true creative gesture by the performer, leading to a form of “translumination”.
