1789 et la bande dessinée
Les Patriotes selon Giroud et Lacaf

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: La Révolution française et le monde d’aujourd’hui. Mythologies contemporaines
  • Author: Bourdin (Philippe)
  • Abstract: This article analyzes the comic book’s relationship to historical reality during the period from 1789 to 1792 in the Dauphiné. It shows how a story of swashbuckling, full of feeling and passion, mixes the experience of ideals with the reality of revolutionary social transformations. The message behind their words forces the authors into shortened analyzes and stereotypical characters. This is especially the case when the described political situation is complex and results in major national rifts.
