Le Militaire philosophe and a few possible forms of atheism and materialism

Jacques-André Naigeon heavily influenced the final phase of the history of clandestine literature. This article attempts to clarify his role in the materialist output of the Enlightenment, a mixture of textual inheritance, atheistic propaganda, and bold philosophical choices. In order to gain a clearer understanding of this, some developments in his work on Le Militaire philosophe, a text that is both a “rewriting” and an end point of his atheistic materialist thought, are discussed.
