The edition of the Cymbalum mundi published by Prosper Marchand in Amsterdam in 1711 inspired two imitations in 1732 and 1753. In the latter Dutch one, there are four original prints by Bernard Picart accompanying the dialogues, while the Parisian edition produced by Falconet and Lancelot in 1732 includes forgeries. Besides its substantial contributions, it also betrays a certain animosity toward Marchand.
