Proust historien et romancier de la Grande Guerre
Ce que le « commandant Duroc » doit à Ferdinand Foch

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: La Grande Guerre des écrivains : études
  • Author: Fraisse (Luc)
  • Abstract: Before the war, in Le Côté de Guermantes, young officers invoke their brilliant teacher at military school, the commander Duric, who might well be modelled on the general Foch, whose teachings Proust knew about through the press, and who his aide-de-camp told him about. In Le Temps retrouvé, the Great War partly sweeps away these enthusiastic theories: Foch is part of history, which renews the generations.
