Au front
Un médecin injustement oublié, Georges Duhamel

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: La Grande Guerre des écrivains : études
  • Author: Girard (Evelyne)
  • Abstract: Georges Duhamel is an author who has been unjustly forgotten, but who played a major role in twentieth-century literature. Enlisted during the Great War, he traced a poignant picture of the sufferings of the wounded he tended to, while retaining hope that the meaning of life resided in the search for happiness. Real civilisation does not lie in total confidence in material progress, which must always be approached with a spirit of examination.
