Rostand through the lens of film-theater Two perspectives on the staging of Cyrano de Bergerac by Denis Podalydès

This comparative study of two different film versions of the same staging of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Comédie-Française, filmed ten years apart by different directors and for different broadcasters, illustrates the interdependent links between stage and screen. Scenic constraints, e.g. the placement of a digital screen above the stage to enhance the perspective of the theatre audience, requires strategic filming choices that highlight the aesthetics of film-theater.
