AB  - This comparative study of two different film versions of the same staging of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Comédie-Française, filmed ten years apart by different directors and for different broadcasters, illustrates the interdependent links between stage and screen. Scenic constraints, e.g. the placement of a digital screen above the stage to enhance the perspective of the theatre audience, requires strategic filming choices that highlight the aesthetics of film-theater.
