La mauvaise foi d’Éric Chevillard

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Éric Chevillard dans tous ses états
  • Author: Coste (Claude)
  • Abstract: In L’Œuvre posthume de Thomas Pilaster, Oreille rouge, Démolir Nisard, and L’Auteur et moi, Chevillard multiplies uses of bad faith–that lie we tell to others but, above all, to ourselves. Yet this omnipresent bad faith takes on a positive dimension. Transformed into an exercise of lucidity, it produces an energy which escapes the prison of the already said and enables those detours which allow the writer to make excessive claims. It becomes a means of affirming freedom in the face of an uncertain reality.
