The Social Function of Clothing Rules and Conventions in the Gouvernement des roys et des princes, Between Literature and Politics

The aim of this article is to provide new remarks about the social function of clothing in the Livre du gouvernement des roys et des princes (the first French translation of Gilles de Rome's De regimine principum), by analysing the rules and conventions on clothing in this text, that are strictly linked to the political context of the French court at the end of the thirteen century.
