Arthurian romance has traditionally served as a testing ground for the sociological approach to medieval literature. Thanks to reception studies, attention has shifted from the contents to the relationship between text and context. This contribution extends these new approaches into an overarching vision of the textual tradition, seen in its entirety and in its vitality, by highlighting the potential of the stemma codicum. We will attempt to investigate it, including the blanks spaces within.
