In Marilia Rocha’s Aboio, the melancholic tone of the cowboys singing has the power to gather and to guide the cattle. Their songs are the vocal expression of an audio-visual touch by which this documentary transforms men and animals into enfolded surfaces. In so doing, these vaqueiros of the Sertão lure us into an aesthetic anthropology.
