This study will consider the position taken by semiologists from the Paris School of semiotics in an effort to reveal the angle from which they view several semiotic notions. The paper suggests that these notions contributed to the notion of the translation process itself at a time when translation was studied from a verbocentric point of view. They also enabled the construction of an interdisciplinary field of research, i.e. the Semiotics of translation.
