L’œuvre camusienne, un miroir éthique et existentiel

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Camus et l’éthique
  • Author: Lager (Alexis)
  • Abstract: “An ethical and existential mirror” investigates the role that Camus’ œuvre plays for its readers. Recurring images are often used by readers in order to describe their contact with Camus’ texts in terms of a “shock” which “speaks to us of ourselves”, an experience which helps us to “know ourselves”, and as an “entelechy”. Thanks to its characters functioning as existential substitutes, and the maieutic role conferred on the narrative, Camus’ literary fiction allows readers to realise themselves through the fate of the protagonists.
