Luigi Fabbri, translator of Octave Mirbeau The “anarchist translation” through a case study

The anarchist thinker and activist Luigi Fabbri (Fabriano, 1877 - Montevideo, 1935) translated Octave Mirbeau’s play Les Mauvais Bergers (1897) into Italian. The conditions under which this translation was produced, the considerations on the original text, and the paths that the translated text took, are representative of what might be called “anarchist translation”. This article focuses on this translation as a political gesture to analyse the anarchist appropriation of Mirbeau’s work.
