This article is a new reading of canto VI, chapter five of Les Chants de Maldoror which aims to prove that Isidore Ducasse read Denis Diderot’s Le Neveu de Rameau and that his moral and philosophical influence even extends to the Poésies. This analysis compares the characters, places, actions, themes, and forms that these literary works have in common.
