  • Abstract: Hélinand’s douzain: Rutebeuf practiced it with nearly the same familiarity as his formal specialty, the tercet coué. In Le Miracle de Théophile, the cleric’s Prière, which is indissociable from La Repentance, which precedes it, is written with this template but with a short meter, which satisfies a desire for novelty. As for the themes and motifs found in this oration, it is not surprising that they recall Gautier de Coinci, who is surmised to have been a reader of Hélinand even if he was not a practitioner of the famous stanza.
