This work deals with the reception of Charles Nodier in the journal Semanario Pintoresco Español (1836–1857). By looking at three translations that appeared in 1854 and 1855: La hermana Beatriz: Leyenda, La gruta del hombre muerto, and Bautista Montauban: Cuento, we analyze the French author’s presence in the journal. Why were three stories by Nodier translated in a publication that focuses on national culture and literature? Why the choice of these texts? These are the questions we try to answer.
