  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Author: L'Hopital (Servane)
  • Abstract: This article focuses on the problematic relation between the theological sublime and the aesthetic sublime of mass. The status of ceremonies fluctuates between sacralisation and demystification and, although the Council of Trente held that these ceremonies were able to “elevate” towards the sublime, they are more related to propaedeutics than to the Longinus’ sublime.
