Working machines in French literature of the 20th and 21st centuries

How has the literature of the 20th and 21st centuries reflected the technological evolution of factory machines? This is the question that this article answers, by referring to some twenty novels, testimonies or documentary narratives. The question of the harshness of working conditions supplants reflection on technological innovation, except in the work of François Bon. Several reasons are proposed for understanding this relative absence.
