The three texts gathered in this volume (Lettres neuchâteloises, Lettres de Lausanne, and Honorine d’Userche) testify to the political and ideological evolution of their author, Isabelle de Charrière (1740–1805), whose writings are often consigned to the tendentious category of “women’s novels.”
