In La Comédie humaine, Balzac uses music to express the inner life of the characters. In this way, fashionable works such as Rossini’s operas are incorporated into the novel to communicate feelings of enchantment. In this article, the aim is to examine different cases and define their stakes, looking at the following corpus: Béatrix, La Duchesse de Langeais, Le Bal de Sceaux, Massimilla Doni, La Peau de chagrin, Le Père Goriot, Le Cousin Pons, and Une fille d’Ève.
