« Pensez à ce que serait la biographie de Stavroguine ! »

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Signés Malraux. André Malraux et la question biographique
  • Author: Howlett (Sylvie)
  • Abstract: To justify abandoning the Démon de l’Absolu, André Malraux ironises about “what the biography of Stavroguine would be”. Only Fyodor Dostoevksy could have rendered Les Sept Piliers sublime and made it into a motor of philosophical and compositional interrogation. T. E. Lawrence evolves into a conceptual character and a Slavic idiot to fabricate the reality of the Arabic Revolt. These Deleuzian concepts illuminate the approach of André Malraux who, in his Karamazovian biofiction, found his voice and the matrix of Antimémoires.
