The Walking Dead is a television series with parallels to the road movie genre—an odyssey of characters in search of refuge and a safe and ideal society. However, everywhere they go, the group must hide to protect themselves from zombies but also from other survivors. This contradiction is at the heart of the series: Should they stay or should they go? Should they hide or keep moving—and which route should they take? The spaces of the apocalypse are ridden with oppositions, with catastrophe creating division between characters.
