Once inseparable from the downtown areas of a specific group of US cities, television series of the noir genre gradually ventured into new territory from the 1960s onward: from other large US cities to less dense spaces such as the suburbs, the countryside, and the wilderness. This expansion also affected the genre itself, no longer limiting itself to detective narratives but also incorporating elements from the western, fantasy, and teen genres.
