The concept of Beauty which appears in the second paragraph of Une Saison en enfer is absolutely necessary for the resolution of the essential problem of Rimbaud’s poetics. Overturning all traditional interpretations, it is a question of showing why and how Rimbaud’s concept of beauty refers to the “enormous monster” of Baudelaire’s Hymne à la Beauté.
