Les Mémoires d’un veuf reveals Verlaine’s laboratory of prose poems and of their contours. A generic approach is favored in this work : Verlaine leverages the assimilative capacity of a burgeoning genre in order to organize a “wall of images” on which his autobiographical project is based.
