“France laughed for a long time at my indifference” – on a passage of Une répétition

Une répétition and Épître à M. de Villèle published in Élégies nationales et satires politiques (1827) contain several rather obscure allusions. To complement Claude Pichois’s annotation, this article proposes to explain to which event of the time Draconnet’s mon indifférence referred. At the same time, other expressions like un consul très plaisant and rimer l’Indifférence ou le Bois du village will be given a hypothetical interpretation.
